Poseidon - Speed Art (Entry to MrOllzinator`s competition)

As you guys might now, I just got hacked, so I think this is a pretty good way to kick off my comeback :) I spent a long time figuring out what theme I was going to choose for Mr Ollzinator`s competition, but suddenly it came to my head. Poseidon. Poseidon have alway been my most favourite Greek God. For those who don`t know, he is actually the god of the sea, hence why he is flooded with water in my entry for Ollzinator`s comp. Also if you look closely at the final image, which I am announcing below, you can see some minor details that I would like to address, so there won`t be any misunderstandings with me not following the rules! Must be a speed art (video) - CHECKED Must include my name (in corner) - CHECKED - If you look closely at the sign to the right, it says "Ollzinator for President" No size restrictions (preferably large) - CHECKED - 1920 x 1080 Post as video response - CHECKED No 3D - CHECKED! Also, I used the theme Greek Gods which you actually can see in the final image if you look closely at a sign in the background! So over to the Final Image! Poseidon is one of the more famous of the deities of ancient Greece. Here is an overview of who he was, what he did and his position the Pantheon.

The Role of Poseidon In Ancient Greece

The many gods and goddesses of the ancient Greek culture played important roles in every Greek's life. From the family hearth, to the life-giving sun, to the water they bathed in, Greek gods were seen to govern all aspects of daily life. While some regions of the Greek realm were actual cults, which meant they worshiped one god or goddess above all others; others prayed to specific figures at different points in the year or for different strengths. If a mariner was about to go to sea, it is pretty certain that he would have prayed to Poseidon.

While Poseidon's largest governance was the sea and ocean, he was also considered the god of horses, and the "Earth-Shaker", creator of earthquakes. In Mycenaean culture, Poseidon was seen as the most powerful of all the gods, even above Zeus - he was the most frequently written about god in the entire pantheon. At this point, he was associated with "Two Queens", Demeter and Persephone, although in later Hellenic Greece he was not at all related to these goddesses. He was also seen in this culture as the "Earth Father" with Demeter being the "Earth Mother".

Poseidon was also a major patron god of several large cities within Greece. In Athens, he was second in line only to Athena, and in Corinth he was the main god of the city. Apollo was a close associate god, and while Poseidon's realm was generally seen to be in the areas of the Earth and bodies of water, he also had another trait that was a bit more sinister. Poseidon was also blamed for causing mental disturbances, such as epilepsy. He shared this ability with both the god Dionysus, and the creatures known as the Maenads.

When sailors embarked on voyages, they prayed heavily to Poseidon. Occasionally, they would even sacrifice horses by drowning (as he was also known as the god of horses). It was said that when Poseidon was in his benevolent aspect, he created both calm seas and new islands. When the god was displeased or angered, however, he would cause earthquakes and shipwrecks by striking the ground with his trident. Poseidon was often pictured in a chariot being pulled by horses or sea horses, holding a trident, and associated with dolphins.

While Zeus was known as the originator god in later parts of Greek culture, Poseidon was the first "head god" of note. His later appearances as the duel god of water and earthquakes meant that he had the ability to affect many people at once, so he garnered many prayers, sacrifices and attention from all of Greece.

In a tomb at Kivak, in South Sweden (1400 BC) is a panel depicting the God Poseidon. The temple also contained gold statues of a God standing in a chariot drawn by six winged horses, surrounded by dolphins.

The statues were so tall that they touched the roof of the temple. In the Eddaic Saga of Ragnar LodBrok, it is said that on the Island of Samso there stood a forty foot high statue of a God made of wood, similar to the one in Kivak.

In Scandinavia rock drawings from the Bronze Age show figures of Gods two or three times taller than the people. Were the Gods/Goddesses of our ancestors giants?

In Northern Europe, as early as the middle Bronze Age, there was a cult of a God standing in a chariot, drawn by horses and led by a dolphin, Poseidon?

According to Swedish archaelologist, Martin P. Nilsson, the God Poseidon, came from an original homeland in the NORTH. In early times Poseidon was connected with horses, chariots and dolphins.

There are also many connections between this God, horses, chariots and dolphins in the Greek religious cults.

Homer, in his 'Illiad', portrays Poseidon as a very old God. Poseidon is said to have built the wall around Troy.

The walls around the temples in Atlantis were erected by Poseidon also, in the dawn of time.

Among the Achaens (Greeks) who descended from the Norse Sea peoples of Scandinavia and North Germany, Poseidon was considered and "older" God.

In Sparta after the North Sea peoples migrated to it, Poseidon was revived and played a dominant part in their religion.

Dorian (Greek) nobility claimed Poseidon as their tribal ancestor.

The Phillistines honored Poseidon.

In the midst of the great 'Troy Town' on the island of Atlantis, stood a temple to Poseidon. The temple of Poseidon was 183 meters in length and 93 meters wide. The statues were covered in silver. Inside the roof, gold, silver and amber were used.

The Germanic temples in pre-Christain times were extremely rich in decoration.

Herman Muller, Nordic historian, stated that the description of the temple of Poseidon, in Atlantis agrees very closely to the palaces of the Norse/Germanic Gods, Odin, Thor, Freya etc.

Even the bridge, in Atlantis, that connected the temple with the rest of the country can be recognized as the Bifrost Bridge.

The temple of Forseti in Frisia, has pillars of gold and a roof of silver.

Christianity invaded Scandinavia and Germany and baptized the inhabitants under the threat of the sword. They then destroyed what they called the heathen shrines and carried off great treasures that they found in the temples. That are probably stored in the basement of the Vatican with all our other treasures.

Scandinavian folklore tales, tell of a golden city which lies beneath the sea, where it's inhabitants were so rich that the canals and drains were made of copper.

Another tale tells of a country that sank into the North Sea. The inhabitants were so rich that they shod their horses with golden shoes and ploughed the land with silver ploughs.

There is so much rich hidden history, that clearly shows that the Norse Sea people (our Viking ancestors) traveled troughout the ancient world (1500 BC) and left culture, commerce and Gods/Goddesses in their wake.

Why do we not see this on the History channel?
