Mother earth as Gaia is a Greek representation of Goddess Earth. Gaia, more frequently spelled as Ge was the connotation to earth. Gaia is the great Greek earth mother. There are two versions of her creation in Greek mythology. In both the versions she emerges from chaos through a parthenogenic birth. Gaia was then populated with the necessary Mountains, Seas, flora and fauna. She was the primordial element from which sprang everything that lives: gods, mortals, fruits, grains, flowers, creatures of earth, air and sea, and the starry heavens above. Everything that lives is of her, and to her it shall return at death.
Mother earth as Gaia: Creation of the universe
Mother earth as Gaia is also attributed with the creation of universe. Therefore we can see that the origin and creation of nature and universe is through the feminine principle as portrayed in the Greek mythology. She was considered to be the first and last, and everything in between. She was attributed with deep Earth wisdom, and the gift of prophesy. Gaia is believed by some sources to be the original deity behind the Oracle at Delphi. She passed her powers on to others latter on.
Mother earth as Gaia: The first mother
She is the first mother and her children included the powerful Gods, the Titans, the Giants, the Erinyes and the Nymphs. She strove to protect and nurture them all. No child was unlovely in her eyes. The later part of the Greek mythology says that her power of fertility was usurped by the patriarchy created by her own son Zeus and thereafter Gaia stopped, for the most part, involving herself in the lives of her children.

Mother earth as Gaia: The Gaia movement
It is sad that the worship of Mother Earth as Gaia went into decline for thousands of years as patriarchal gods supplanted the Goddess. But the good news is that she lives on still, not just in the beautiful world we see around us, but in the Gaia Movement that has was initiated by Sir James Lovelock an independent research scientist in 1970s with the postulation of the Gaia hypothesis. Since then extensive research has taken place in the field of ecology and allied sciences keeping the Gaia hypothesis and movement as the prime theme. Eminent scientists and ecologists have joined the Gaia movement and this environmentalist movement has already seen three full fledge international conferences called as the Gaia conferences. This environmentalist movement sees the entire planet as a single, living organism. Everything is interconnected, mutually dependent, and must be defended. We violate any part of Gaia's creation at grave peril to our souls and to the world. That will be the revenge of Mother Earth as Gaia.

This site envisions the rise of womanhood in true sense that is the rise of the "essence" of womanhood in the physical, mental, intellectual and the spiritual planes. It calls for the beginning of a campaign for the true rise of women in all spheres of life for the restoration of the balance in nature.
Somewhere we have to make a beginning and it's always better if we make the initiation at our own self. We can strengthen this mass movement for the "rise of womanhood" by bringing about the necessary changes in our own life as felt by our inner self. Further we can transmit the new thinking to others who care to listen. A small step today will definitely lead to a giant leap tomorrow.
